Frequently Asked Questions

If you use a literature-based approach to reading, how do you reach phonics?

The phonics skills are integrated into guided reading lessons, writing workshop consultations, and spelling word families. Teaching the phonemic awareness in this way, allows students to learn to apply the skills learned in the classroom, which increases their reading proficiency.

How can I learn more about the educational options available to my child?

Pamphlets are available describing the options available at the elementary school. If you need additional information, contact the elementary school principal at (715) 693-2810.

How do I learn about activities and events in the school?

A school newsletter is published once a month which contains this information. In addition, many classroom teachers publish weekly newsletters informing parents of events in their classroom and in the school.

What do I do if I have questions concerning my child's performance at school?

First, contact your child's teacher. He/she will be happy to help you. If he/she can't help you, contact the elementary school principal.

How do I arrange transportation for my child?

Students who do not live in town may ride a bus to school. You may make arrangements by calling Wirsbinski Bus Service at (715) 693-3329. Students who live in town may ride the bus if there is room, for a fee. Parents who wish to check if this option remains available may contact the bus service.

My child needs to take medication at school, how do I make arrangements for this service?

Please contact the school nurse to complete the necessary forms. This visit will allow you to explain your child's condition and any special precautions needed. You may reach the nurse at (715) 693-2810.
