Welcome to my website!

My name is Mrs. Stacy Stenz.  I am the Emotional Behavioral Disability Teacher for grades K-3 grades, as well as Early Childhood: Exceptional Educational Needs teacher for a T/Th class session, at the Mosinee Elementary School.

Within both programs, I believe in the use of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to create a safe, encouraging learning environment.  Lessons and activities students experience relate directly to the Common Core Standards, goals set forth within individual education plans, developmentally appropriate practices and an understanding of various learning styles and multiple intelligences each student displays.

Within Early Childhood, I recognize that children at this age learn best through play! I also recognize that a child's attention span in the elementary years is the equivalent of "their age plus two" in minutes.  For this reason, children are never sitting for adult-led activities for any longer than 5-7 minutes and then are given an opportunity to "shift" learning into a different "gear".  Through movement, play and other hands-on learning, students engage in learning in very meaningful and relevant ways.

Within the EBD program, I recognize that many factors can play into how and why a child responds to his or her environment in a given manner.  It is key to identify the function of a given behavior in order to address the positive response to the behavior.  This may include teaching anger management, finding more appropriate replacement behaviors, identifying strategies to calm one's emotions, working on friendship skills, and building self-esteem for example.   In all instances, students are treated with respect and care.
