Do you enjoy numbers? Or, like solving challenging problems? If so, then MATHCOUNTS is the club for you.
MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide coaching and competition program for middle school students, organized by the National Society of Professional Engineers and many corporate sponsors. The mission of MATHCOUNTS is to increase enthusiasm for and enhance achievement in middle school mathematics throughout the United States.
In Mosinee, the MATHCOUNTS practice team gets together for a series of fifteen after-school practices to build our problem solving skills during the months of September, October, November, December, and January.
In January, eight members of our practice team will be chosen to represent Mosinee at the Chapter (regional) competition in February. Students are selected based upon performance in various school competition problems. From there, students can advance to the state competition in March or even the national competition held in May. (Mosinee has had many students compete at the state and national competitions.)
No matter how far you advance in the program, you will leave with valuable problem solving skills and mathematics knowledge will be gained.
Feel free to contact Mr. Lesniak if you have any questions.
Join MATHCOUNTS by completing the sign-up sheet that will be distributed in your Math class the week of September 19. You can also find the sign-up sheet by clicking the link below.
