Welcome to Mosinee Elementary School. Our elementary school serves approximately 650 students in grades 4K through third grade and houses an early childhood (EC) special needs program which provides early intervention to qualifying three-year-old students. Students in the community also have the opportunity to attend a 4-year-old Kindergarten program with off site locations in the community.
At the elementary school we have six sections per grade level KG-3rd grade, two sections of 4K, and one class of EC. We run our schedule on a six day rotation to allow our students to have an hour of Encore classes which include: SEAL, Library, Art, Music, Physical Education and Technology.
Our curriculum in reading, writing, and mathematics is aligned to the Wisconsin State Standards to better prepare our students for our ever changing world. We continue to develop common curriculum and assessments at each grade level so that we are well informed on how to best meet the needs of our students.
All our students have access to our school forest at each grade level as well which supports and enhances their study of environmental education.
We continue to assess our students’ reading progression by utilizing the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark as well as our newly adopted Universal Screening and Progress Monitoring Tool, Fastbridge, for Grades K-3. Math assessments include using our End of Module Unit Assessments, Exit Tickets, and Fastbridge for all students in grades K-3, and the Bridges Assessments for some students. In addition, our 3rd grade students participate each spring in the Forward Exam, our statewide assessment. PALS (Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening) will continue to be the measure used for Reading Readiness in 4K.
Learning doesn’t stop in the classroom! Through funds donated by our district-wide Parent/Teacher Organization, our students are able to participate in enriching opportunities such as music, theater, and dance performances held locally. Thank you to our PTO!
Feel free to stop in and visit! We are fortunate to have the support of parents and community members who volunteer in the classrooms. We have some community members volunteer time to teach the Junior Achievement program and others who volunteer to be United Way readers for our students.
No matter where you go when you visit our awesome elementary school you will find great staff members teaching and working with amazing students! It’s a great place to be! So go ahead, come visit, and see for yourself all the wonderful things happening at Mosinee Elementary!!!
