As we kick off the school year at Mosinee Elementary School, I want to welcome each and every one of you to our school!
Mr. Soderberg, all the staff, and I are excited to start the new year and look forward to working with you to make this year an outstanding one.
My years as an educator have proven that it takes teamwork to help all students reach their maximum potential. I will work collaboratively with the staff here at Mosinee Elementary School to provide a safe, welcoming, and academically rich environment where all our students can be successful. Your involvement, partnership, and support are greatly appreciated throughout the school year as we work together to educate our students.
We will continue to develop common curriculum and assessments at each grade level so that we are well informed on how to best meet the needs of our students. We will continue to evidence our students’ reading progression by utilizing the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark as well as our newly adopted Universal Screening and Progress Monitoring Tool, Fastbridge, for Grades K-3. PALS will continue to be the measure used for Reading Readiness in 4K. Math assessments will include using our End of Module Unit Assessments, Exit Tickets and Fastbridge for all students in grades K-3, and the Bridges Assessments for some students. Our 3rd grade students will again be participating in the Forward Exam, our statewide assessment.
Mr. Soderberg has been working with the PBIS team this summer to continue our implementation of our PBIS program. With the continued implementation of PBIS, our goal is to have staff consistently reinforce our expectations and for our students to be responsible, respectful, and ready to learn each and every day. We will still be recognizing our “Top Bananas” as a way to encourage our students to do their best and using the “Compliment Critters” to reward students for positive behaviors and citizenship. Our consistent efforts in teaching our students how to behave appropriately will help create a positive classroom and school community that will foster learning.
I am confident this will be an outstanding school year and look forward to working with our amazing staff, students, parents and community members to continue to make Mosinee Elementary a great school.
Regards,
Mrs. Katie Colwell
