The Mosinee School District is excited to welcome our newest learners! Enrollment for the 2025-26 4K program will soon be open for children who turn four on or before September 1, 2025. To learn more about this wonderful program and begin the registration process, you’re invited to an in-person Open House on Thursday, January 30. Steps to register and important details can be found below. If you need assistance, please call the elementary school at 715-693-2810—we’re here to help! We can’t wait to welcome your child to our 4K program!

Steps to Register Your Child

1. Skyward Family Access

You will need to complete the Skyward portion of registration which is where you fill out all your student’s information. If you currently have a student in the district, you need to login to Family Access and click on New Student Online Enrollment on the left hand side. If you are a family enrolling your first student to the district, use this link instead to set up a Family Access Account.

The person filling out this information will need to know or gather the following information: 1) student's personal information, 2) mother, father and emergency contact's address, email, phone numbers, 3) doctor and dentist name and number, 4) health, behavioral, schooling history, immunization records. 5) to complete your registration, you will need to upload the immunization record, proof of address and verify the birth date. If the child’s birth date is on the immunization record, that can be used to verify the birth date. A utility bill or piece of certified mail with your address will work for a proof of address.

2. Open Enrollment

Please check your address to determine if you reside in the Mosinee School District using this Wisconsin DPI School Districts Link. If it is determined  that you do not live in the Mosinee School District you will need to apply for open enrollment for your child by visiting the following DPI website Public School Open Enrollment | Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Open Enrollment can be completed between February 3, 2025 - April 30, 2025 at 4:00pm. If you have questions about Open Enrollment, please contact the district office for help at 715-693-2530.

Please state if your drop off or pick up is different than your home address and whether you need transportation morning, afternoon or both. Your completed form can be emailed to the bus garage, dropped off at the bus garage, or dropped off at the elementary school.  To determine if you qualify for free busing, please refer to our School Board District Transportation Policies. After you open the link click on the left-hand side to open the following 8600, 8600.01, and 8600.02. Any transportation questions can be directed to Lamers at (715) 814-1481 or email Lamers here

Guiding Principles

  • All children are capable and competent.
  • A child’s early learning and development is multidimensional.
  • Expectations for children must be guided by knowledge of child growth and development.
  • Children are individuals who develop at various rates.
  •  Children are members of cultural groups that share developmental patterns.
  • Children exhibit a range of skills and competencies within any area of development.
  • Children learn through play and the active exploration of their environment.
  • Parents are children’s primary and most important caregivers and educators.

WI Early Learning Standards

  1. Health and Physical Development - This includes knowledge and activities that promote healthy living, safety, fitness and nutrition.  Coordination, balance, large and small muscle control and the use of all senses are emphasized to improve learning.
  2. Social and Emotional Development - This includes children’s feelings about themselves and others, their ability to form relationships, interest in and skills needed to maintain positive relationships with adults and children, ability to understand the perspective and feelings of others and skills needed to succeed in a group setting.  Children’s early relationships are the foundation for social and emotional competence and cognitive development.
  3. Language Development and Communication - This refers to children’s developing ability to convey and interpret meaning.  This is reflected in their progress in listening and understanding, speaking and communication, and early literacy.
  4. Approaches to Learning - This recognizes that children approach learning in different ways and emphasizes the development of positive attitudes and dispositions to acquire information.  It is inclusive of a child’s curiosity about the world and openness to new tasks and challenges; initiative, staying on task and paying attention; imagination and invention; and cognitive skills.
  5. Cognition and General Knowledge - This recognizes children’s search for meaning as the basis for intellectual development.  It focuses on children’s curiosity about the world and their developing ability to acquire, organize, and use information in increasingly complex ways to satisfy that curiosity.  Children are engaged in and appreciate the arts to express ideas and feelings.  Primary components include mathematics and logical thinking, scientific thinking and problem-solving, and understanding social studies.
